Description

This WILA Type 60° press brake punch is a heavy-duty upper tool developed for acute-angle forming and higher-load sheet metal bending applications. Its straight, reinforced profile provides direct and stable force transmission, enabling a maximum load capacity of 160 ton/m when used under the specified working conditions.

The 60° punch angle is suitable for producing acute bends and for pre-bending operations that require the sheet to be formed substantially below 90°. It can also support multi-stage forming processes in which an acute bend is created first and then finished to the required final profile.

With a working height of 120 mm, a 20 mm tool width and an R3 mm tip radius, this punch combines good working clearance with a strong load-bearing section. The larger R3 tip radius distributes bending pressure over a wider contact area than a sharp-radius punch, helping improve tip durability and reducing highly concentrated stress during demanding bending operations.

Manufactured from high-strength 42CrMo alloy tool steel and hardened to HRC54±2, the punch provides the strength, toughness and wear resistance required for repeated industrial production. It can be supplied in continuous lengths or customized segmented sets for different workpiece geometries and bending sequences.

Typical Applications

This WILA Type 60° heavy-duty punch is suitable for:

  • Acute-angle bending below 90°
  • Heavy-duty air bending applications
  • Pre-bending for multi-stage forming processes
  • Bending medium and thick sheet metal
  • Forming high-strength steel within the calculated tooling capacity
  • Industrial machinery components
  • Structural sheet metal parts
  • Heavy electrical enclosures and control cabinets
  • Construction and agricultural equipment components
  • Steel fabrication and general metalworking
  • Production requiring a durable R3 punch tip
  • CNC hydraulic and servo-electric press brake operations

The actual permissible sheet thickness and bending load depend on the material tensile strength, bending length, selected lower-die V-opening, die shoulder radius and forming method. The calculated bending force must remain within the rated capacities of both the tooling and the press brake.

Product Details & Manufacturing Quality

The punch is manufactured from selected 42CrMo alloy tool steel, providing a dependable combination of strength, toughness and resistance to fatigue. Precision machining helps maintain the accuracy of the 60° working profile and R3 mm tip radius across the full tool length.

The working area is hardened to HRC54±2 to improve resistance to indentation, deformation and long-term wear. The robust straight-body design supports stable alignment and efficient force transmission during higher-load bending operations.

The R3 mm punch tip is particularly suitable for applications where a very sharp internal bend is unnecessary or undesirable. Its larger contact radius can help reduce extreme stress concentration at the punch tip while improving durability during repetitive production.

For safe and accurate operation, this upper punch must be paired with a lower die of the correct angle, V-opening and load capacity. Tool selection should always be based on the workpiece material, thickness, bend length, desired inside radius and press brake capacity.
